GTC and WWF Poland celebrate a successful year of partnership

Corporate

GTC is the first real estate company to establish a comprehensive cooperation with WWF Poland. Thanks to its infrastructure, the real estate market has great potential in reaching a wide audience. The developer used its 16 office buildings and one shopping center to educate its employees, as well as tenants, customers, and the local community about the protection of brown bears in Poland and endangered tigers in Malaysia. The company run educational campaigns in the “Welcome GTC” app and via email newsletters to tenants. Employees using the app received a dose of knowledge about how important it is to care for the environment and why WWF Poland is so engaged in protecting tigers and brown bears. GTC also supported WWF’s efforts to protect these wild animals and their habitats by encouraging donations to the Symbolic Species Adoptions program (pomagam.wwf.pl).

Additionally, in November 2022, visitors to Galeria Północna in Warsaw, one of GTC’s shopping centers, could see an exhibition presenting facts and trivia about tigers. These animals are on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List of Threatened Species. A concerted effort to educate and encourage donations was also visible on social media, and joint activities reached an audience of more than one million. GTC co-financed the purchase of equipment, logistic costs, and salaries of anti-poaching rangers in Malaysia. Moreover, GTC's donation helped WWF Poland protect apiaries and purchase special "beer-proof" litter bins, which were then donated to local municipalities in the Polish Carpathian Mountains.

For the sake of our planet we need to develop business in a sustainable way. GTC cooperates with many organizations, so in addition to changing our company, we want to inspire others to care about the environment. Education is the first step in this regard - says Agnieszka Ciupak, Executive Director at GTC in Poland.

In partnerships with business, WWF helps companies to make urgent and significant investments in nature and wildlife conservation. Companies gain expert support and our joint field projects help to build a positive value for nature. Our partnership with GTC in 2022 was one of such engaging projects. I am delighted that thanks to our joint educational campaigns we were able to reach many of the company’s employees, customers and investors. In addition, thanks to GTC’s financial support, we were also able to undertake conservation work on the ground, in the field - says Barbara Dąbek, Director of the Strategic Partnerships Department at WWF Poland.

GTC is also committed to the sustainability of its operations. 88 percent of the company's portfolio is LEED/BREEAM certified, which confirms that energy- and water-efficient solutions are being used in office buildings. A green energy purchase is planned for GTC's shopping malls in Poland this year. At present, the GTC Group utilizes green energy in all of its buildings in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Croatia and in the Advance Business Centre I and II office buildings in Bulgaria. The company has been publishing ESG reports for the past 2 years, providing a summary of its activities and describing its performance in the areas of sustainable development and construction. In the reports, GTC emphasizes its determination to achieve full certification of its portfolio.
