The construction deed was consecrated by Archbishop Stanisław Nowak, Metropolitan of Częstochowa.
“Galeria Jurajska is Globe Trade Centre S.A.’s largest investment, in terms of expenditure. It will be a leading retail-entertainment centre both for the city as well as for this region. We are convinced that the construction and the activity of Galeria Jurajska will be a very strong economic impulse for the development of Częstochowa. This investment not only changes the landscape and the character of this quarter, but it also creates conditions and opportunities for the development of the inhabitants of the city and its surrounding areas,” stated Eli Alroy, Chairman of the Advisory Council of Globe Trade Centre S.A.
Galeria Jurajska is the largest building investment in Częstochowa, built in a first-class location, on an excellently accentuated site between National Road No. 1 and Krakowska Street. The building is the first modern retail-entertainment center to be built in the city and in the region; it is also the only one in Poland sited directly adjacent to the Kraków No. 1 Road.
Galeria Jurajska will have a total of 130 000 m2, of which 48 000 m2 retail space will hold approx. 200 shops and service points, a multi-screen Cinema City and five-storey parking for 2000 cars.
The Galeria Jurajska was created in the renowned Polish design studio – APA Wojciechowski, in cooperation with the American architectural practiceLaguarda.Low Architects, which has many years of experience in the design of retail centres worldwide. The modern architectural form of Galeria Jurajska was composed for the setting. The area inside the Galeria will be spacious and well-lit with natural light entering through the large glazed panels in the roof and elevations. A significant part of the Galeria will be the five-storey car park, directly adjacent to the retail-entertainment space and the underground car park.
Thanks to its architectural concept, the Galeria will become a significant element in the architecture of the city. An important part of the implementation will be the road infrastructure extension around Galeria Jurajska.
Over 1500 building workers in total will participate in the construction of Galeria Jurajska and the infrastructure extension around the building. During the building period a rejuvenation of the local employment market has been observed in the building services and building products sectors.
Galeria Jurajska will be an attractive place to work for the residents of Częstochowa and surrounding areas; there will be employment for approximately 1500 people.
The general contractor of Galeria Jurajska is the renowned company Strabag. The construction is managed by Tebodin SAP -Projekt, and the agent leasing the space is Jones Lang LaSalle.
“The unique location of Galeria Jurajska, both on the regional and national scales, will attract famous national and foreign brands. Currently in Poland there are few retail centres that are so attractive. Therefore we are not surprised that demand from potential tenants exceeds the total retailing space offered,” said Monika Janczewska-Leja, Director of Retail Centres in Globe Trade Centre S.A.
The opening of Galeria Jurajska is planned for Q4 2009. Galeria will be the fourth retail-entertainment center built and managed by GTC, joining: Galeria Mokotów(the first modern retail – entertainment centre in Poland), Galeria Kazimierz in Kraków and Avenue Mall (opened last year in Zagreb).
